Effects of prostaglandins on renin substrate production by the liver.

چکیده
1. The effects of prostaglandin (PG) E1, PGE2 and PGF2 alpha on plasma renin substrate concentration in rats and renin substrate production by perfused rat liver were investigated. 2. After bilateral nephrectomy, both plasma renin substrate concentration and renin substrate production were remarkably elevated. 3. The increase in plasma renin substrate level and production of renin substrate by the liver after nephrectomy was markedly suppressed by the treatment with PGE1 or PGE2. 4. In contrast PGF2 alpha had no suppressive effect on renin substrate synthesis. 5. These findings suggest that PGE1 and PGE2 might be inhibitory factors in the regulation of renin substrate synthesis.

Renin-angiotensin system and unilateral ureteral obstruction
Unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) is a clinical scenario that leads to obstructive nephropathy. UUO alters the expression of many mediators in the ipsilateral kidney. Renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is involved in UUO. Angiotensin II (Ang II) and angiotensin 1-7 (Ang 1-7) as the main arms of RAS influence kidney function which may alter by UUO. Ang II via Ang II receptor subtypes I (AT1R) ...
متن کاملRenin substrate in granules from rat kidney cortex.
1. Subcellular fractions of rat kidney cortex generated angiotensin I continuously over 2h when incubated at 37degreesC with rat renin, indicating the presence of renin substrate within cells in the renal cortex. 2. Renin substrate was located in highest specific concentration in particulate fractions. The particles containing renin substrate had a sedimentation velocity slightly lower than mit...
متن کاملThe effect of aspirin therapy on the plasma renin activity in myocardial infarction
In this study, the changes of renin system activity and the effects of aspirin therapy on the plasma renin activity ( PRA) in myocardial infarction were investigated. Fifty nine patients with myocardial infarction were selected. By suppressed in the former group which was statistically significant ( p<0.01).
متن کاملProstaglandins and renin release: the effect of PGI2, PGE2, and 13,14-dihydro PGE2 on the baroreceptor mechanism of renin release in the dog.
We compared the ability of the vasodilator prostaglandins PGI2, PGE2, and 13,14-dihydro PGE2 to release renin when infused into the denervated, nonfiltering canine kidney in vivo. Papaverine was used as a nonprostaglandin vasodilator. All the prostaglandins tested were capable of stimulating renin secretion, with the scale of potency being 13,14-dihydro PGE2 greater than PGI2 greater than PGE2;...
متن کاملThe role of renal kallikrein and prostaglandin in the control of renin release.
Renal prostaglandins and kallikrein are considered to play an important role in the control of renin release. Recently, we have shown that aprotinin, a kallikrein inhibitor, inhibits the stimulation of plasma renin activity (PRA) by either furosemide or a low sodium diet. However, the mechanisms of action of kallikrein are unknown. Since kallikrein may stimulate bradykinin and prostaglandin pro...
